Kimchi fever

Since my last visit to Seoul,
I had fell in love with Kimchi,
a fermented vegetable with seasonings

Yet,
I have been looking around for the main ingredients,
Korea chillies powder

A short visit to Singapore
brings me such a surprise that I accidentally found it
in a korea store.

Without hesitating,
I searched online,
asked from people who made it before,
cooking books
Finally I got my own recipe from website

An easy way to make the most important ingredient
Kimchi paste

The taste of kimchi solely depends on
what base you use to put on it

Kuey teow and Mee

It was a really annoying yet funny situation I encountered this evening
while I was ordering for my dinner in a hawker center in Sibu

Looking at the menu hanging on the wall of the stall,
the conversation began with:
来老板,你要吃什么? 'What you want to order?'
炒粿条面 'Fried kuey teow mee.'
She suddenly stared at me and stopped her work in hand
粿条面? 'Kuey teow mee?'
你要粿条还是面? 'You want kuey teow OR mee?'
I insistingly said
粿条面 'Kuey teow mee'
She felt a bit annoyed, me too
你要mee kahwin是吗? 'You want mee kahwin orh?'
'Mee kahwin?' -- a new word in my own 'dictionary'
是不是粿条掺面? 'Keuy teow mixed with mee larrr'
Ok。。。Ok。。。给我一盘 'Okay...okay...give me one'

I went back to my seat
and started thinking back
'Kuey teow + mee is not kuey teow mee?'
From here, you can see the differences between West M'sia and East M'sia
the same thing may
have different name
or
totally have different look/presentation

I want my Kuey teow mee goreng!!

코리아 팰리스

It was an unsual Friday
tired
post-presentation syndrome

I need a place
and this is the place 코리아 팰리스

It sounds so high class as so-called Korea Palace...Indeed, it serves a great meal...
No others, but Korean BBQ

The very Korean style tableware

Now, the charcoal is ready for BBQ

These leaves are used to wrap the BBQ meat..the bottom one is called sesame leave..it has mint flavour..

The top one is pork belly and the bottom is squid in red paste (samjang)

After the meat is ready, it has to dip with the two sauce (soy sauce and sesame oil) and put onto those leaves together garlic, green chilli and red paste...

Nice?

Sam-gye-tang or Ginseng chicken soup is another highlight in Korean cuisine...inside the chicken is glutinuous rice...

Last but not least, the dessert..watermelon and special honey barley...it is nice...맛있는
And my stress went off after this....

M.I.D.s meet

My MID-sem break was met with the coming MID-autumn festival.....
where I shared this time
with my mother,
with my hoomemade mooncake...

It is simple to see but it really takes time..

This is Peng Pei mooncake or so-called Snow Skin mooncake...
My own mooncake is original lotus paste with toasted almond...
& few kinds of skin: coffee (brown colour), white (original) & marble (mixed of both skins)
It is simply delicious!!

Yummy 反沙芋

If you are TVB drama-holic, you must be familiar with this name called 反沙芋. Yes, it is the favourite cooking by 芯姐 in drama 学警狙击 or E.U. (Emergency Unit).
I wonder what is 反沙芋...Lastly, I found out it is actually sugar-coated yam...
I did cook myself...Looked like above...It is pretty sweet and 'yammy'..
